I woke up this morning thinking that yesterday was chock full of picturesque events - picking up shirts and track jackets, the tour's first circle, secret pal gifts, saying goodbye, and a show in Bakersfield. Today was scheduled to be a long ride on the bus ending up at a hotel in St. George, UT, - nothing much picturesque.
Was I ever wrong. We started the day with a great pancake, bacon, and eggs breakfast cooked by the First UMC; We drove to Baker for lunch (at 103 degrees - far short of the 120-degree record four years ago), but then Bus #1 had trouble going up hills - it could only creep along. We'd stop, cool off the engine, drive a few miles and stop again. The bus company arranged dinner for us in Las Vegas at a Pizza Restaurant, and then a bus swap. This all worked and as I write this at 8:45PM, we're about an hour and a half from St. George!
Note that we are now on Mountain Daylight time.
