How did the Blue Mountains get their name?
Click on the picture for a map of the Blue Mountains and Leura.
The Blue Mountains are named for the perennial blue haze caused by light striking eucalyptus oil particles in the air.
We are planning to visit
Leura, a small town at the center of the Blue Mountains's scenic attractions, including Sublime Point (with panoramic views of the Jamison Valley), Wentworth Falls, and the Three Sisters. Leura also offers many
great cafes, gardens, art galleries and small boutiques. (It's about 65 miles west of Sydney.)
